In the past 40 years, there has never been a more controversial test than mammography and for many good reasons. The most recent Canadian Study based on 25 years of follow up for breast cancer incidence and mortality concluded that there is no benefit to breast cancer screening.  Regular screening does not reduce mortality yet leads to over diagnosis and over treatment.  In other words routine mammography screening, the holy grail of the cancer industry, causes more harm than good for millions of women.

In November of 2012 the New England Journal of Medicine published ‘Effect of Three Decades of Screening Mammography on Breast Cancer Incidence” stating that breast cancer was over diagnosed i.e. "tumors were detected on screening that would never have led to clinical symptoms," in 1.3 million U.S. women over the past 30 years.

A few years prior another long term study was published by the Cochrane Centre in Denmark which concluded that for every 2000 women invited for screening throughout 10 years, one will have her life prolonged. In addition, 10 healthy women, who would not have been diagnosed if there had not been screening, will be diagnosed as breast cancer patients and will be treated unnecessarily. It is thus not clear whether screening does more good than harm. Women invited to screening should be fully informed of both benefits and harms.

The really sad thing is that similar studies have been published almost annually for the past 15 years, and one can only wonder how much longer the mammography lobby can continue to sweep this information under the carpet. The time is ripe to critically evaluate conventional medicine's standard of care and to educate the public further to the true causes of cancer, and how to prevent it.

Our resources would be better allocated to promote health and prevention rather than disease and treatment. Women can reduce the risk of breast cancer by making basic lifestyle changes such as eating healthy, balancing their hormones, moving about more, staying lean, and drinking less alcohol.

We should change our focus from Breast Cancer Awareness to Breast Cancer Prevention by providing more relevant and realistic information that will assist women in developing a healthier lifestyle, thereby proactively reducing their risk and incidence of breast cancer.

In my opinion, the current approach for the “early detection” of indiscriminate breast cancer screening is inadequate at best and dangerous at worst. By the time a lesion is detected using mammography, it has already been developing for approximately 8 to 9 years. This is not “early detection” by any stretch of the imagination.  For the past 15 years I have worked on educating and helping women to reduce their risks of breast cancer and attain better health. To get more information on breast cancer prevention strategies I invite you to explore the rest of this site or to contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. A new study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention reveals that women who consume cholesterol-lowering drugs for more than 10 years have experienced an 83 to143% increased risk of breast cancer.

This relationship between drug use and breast cancer does not necessarily imply causation. However, since these drugs affect the functions of cholesterol, vitamin D and sex hormone regulation in the body, women taking these drugs are significantly more likely to suffer cancers driven by the hormone estrogen.  In addition, low levels of Vitamin D have been also implicated with a higher incidence of breast cancer.

Cholesterol-lowering drugs have long been suspect in increasing the risk of certain cancers including colorectal, prostate and kidney. Low cholesterol levels have been found to increase the risk of cancer at all sites. This indicates that cholesterol-lowering drugs could actually cause cancer.

These drugs are known to reduce the body’s level of Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10), a compound central in the process of energy production on the cellular level, and which also eliminates dangerous compounds called free radicals. This critical side effect can cause devastating results, ranging from muscle pain to congestive heart failure. If you take cholesterol-lowering drugs without taking CoQ10, your health may be at serious risk. For preventive use, it is suggested to take 100 - 200 mg of CoQ10 per day.

It has long been established that the effects of cancer causing agents, such as asbestos and tobacco, may take many years to develop - even after the exposure has ended. In that regard, the currentwave of non-melanoma skin cancers has been linked to the widespread use of cholesterol-lowering drugs. In the CARE (Cholesterol And Recurrent Events) trial, 12 of 286 women taking pravastatin developed breast cancer, compared to only 1 of 290 in the placebo group. A significant study of 23 large trials similarly concluded that the magnitude of declining LDL (low density lipoproteins, the so-called ‘bad’ cholesterol) was directly correlated with an increased risk of cancer. As well, numerous studies of healthy people have shown that low cholesterol levels are associated with an increased risk of cancer, even if determined 10 - 30 years previously.

Since it may take many years for a cancer-causing effect to surface, a relationship might not be recognized - especially if cholesterol-lowering drug use has long since been discontinued. Nevertheless, after the CARE study demonstrated an increase in recurrent breast cancer with the use of the drug pravastatin, patients with a history of any malignancy have since been excluded from taking part in all trials. Since drug makers have so far offered no real explanation for this exclusion, perhaps they already know something that the rest of us are only suspecting.

In spite of this overwhelming evidence, 1 in 4 North Americans over the age of 45 are taking these drugs.  Cholesterol-lowering drugs are amongst the biggest-selling drugs in the world, bringing billions in revenue for pharmaceutical companies. In 2011 total sales of these drugs were $35 billion, while billions more are spent each year on marketing to convince us that we need more and more drugs to remain healthy. The medical profession, its organizations, the media and the public at large have swallowed this cholesterol-lowering drug propaganda hook, line and sinker.

A more prudent and definitely less expensive approach that we should be advocating for is natural dietary and nutritional intervention to become the primary method of reducing blood cholesterol to normal levels. The biochemical overriding of our bodies does have a place in emergency situations and for some extreme medical conditions. However, a long-term and sustainable approach to disease treatment and prevention can only come from proper nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and a holistic approach to medicine that aids the body’s innate ability to heal and preserve health.

Women who are physically active have lower levels of estrogen and its breakdown products in their bodies, which helps to explain why exercise may reduce breast cancer risk.

Cher Dallal, from the US National Cancer Institute (Maryland, USA), and colleagues evaluated 540 Polish women, ages 40 to 74 years, who were enrolled as healthy control patients in the NCI Polish Breast Cancer Study. None of the patients was on hormone therapy. The women engaged in a range of physical activity. For seven days, they wore an accelerometer on their waist while awake, which measured overall activity. The women also collected 12-hour urine samples.

The researchers measured the hormones estradiol and estrone, along with different estrogen breakdown products, in the urine; they found that physical activity was associated with lower levels of the main estrogens, and that activity also was associated with increased metabolism of some of the breakdown products.  Writing that: “Our findings with accelerometer-measured physical activity are consistent with prior studies reporting a reduction in estrogen levels with increased activity,” the study authors submit that: “our results suggest that increased physical activity may lower endogenous estrogens by increasing hydroxylation, and subsequent metabolism, of estrogens.”

Since most tumors are estrogen receptor positive, it is important to understand that estrogen metabolism is an important component to proper risk evaluation. Estrogen dominance or progesterone deficiency has been implicated in higher incidence of breast cancer.

Eight Super-Detoxifying Foods For Your Spring Detox.

Spring is a perfect time to detox your body, boost your metabolism, optimize digestion, lose weight and boost your energy levels. You can use the following eight super detoxifying foods in any combination you like:

Beets: Are well known as blood purifiers. Beet juice improves blood structure, circulatory system, and has beneficial effect on the large intestine and the digestive system. Beet juice has the capacity to dissolve stones in the kidney, liver and bladder.

Cilantro: Excellent for detoxing mercury, leeching from our amalgam fillings. Raw organic cilantro can be chopped up and sprinkled on almost any food serving.

Chlorella: Well known as super food, combined with cilantro, it is the ultimate heavy metal detoxifier derived from foods.

Garlic: Is the most effective broad-spectrum anti-microbial agent possessing 39 different anti-fungal, bacterial, parasitic and viral agents. Garlic supports many liver enzymes that aid detoxification.

Broccoli sprouts: Along with other cruciferous vegetables, helps prevent cancer and stimulates toxin-filtering enzymes in the liver.

Omega-3 oils: Besides helping to prevent chronic inflammation, these oils help lubricate the intestinal walls. Avocado, ground hemp or flax seeds or oils, and pure virgin olive oil are recommended.

Lemon or limewater: Mixed with warm water and consumed first thing in the morning is an old liver cleansing remedy.

Mung beans: They are easy to digest and tend to absorb and help eliminate Gastro-Intestinal tract toxins.

To have full benefits of detoxification you should also eliminate alcohol, processed white flour and sugar completely. In addition, to add an extra punch to your detox and flush your system you can use all raw leafy vegetables for juicing or blend them for green smoothies as often as possible. For optimum results drink eight glasses of water per day.

Want More Energy, GO Green.

Posted by on in Breast Health

One of the best things you can do to improve your health is to eat your green vegetables that contain a very important substance called chlorophyll. Yes, the same chlorophyll that allows plants to absorb energy from light. Not getting enough green veggies in your diet? Try to consume liquid chlorophyll which has incredible health benefits. You can easily add it to your drinking water (1/4 tsp per glass) and drink it throughout the day. Molecular structure of chlorophyll is very similar to hemoglobin which is so vital to the health of our blood. It helps to replenish and rebuild our own blood cells that are essential to our energy and the feeling of wellbeing.

Chlorophyll also helps with fighting infection, wound healing, digestive, immune and detoxification functions. Liquid chlorophyll being highly alkaline breaks down calcium oxalate stones (most kidney stones are part oxalate). It protects against a myriad of carcinogens from fungus-laden foods to toxins from cooked meats. Chlorophyll promotes healthy digestive tract and helps eliminate odors in the mouth and throat.

Chlorophyll has a strong antioxidant capacity and has been found to reduce inflammation. It has an ability to bind and remove toxic heavy metals including mercury.Anyone with mercury fillings should definitely consider using liquid chlorophyll for detoxification and chelation.

Want more energy? Go Green eat lots of greens. Any food that is green will contain chlorophyll, so eat it up! If you don't think you’re getting enough, start using liquid chlorophyll on daily basis and see the difference it makes.

The Science Behind Breast Thermography

Posted by on in Breast Health

Many of you know that breast thermography has been under a vicious attack with critics suggesting that there is no scientific validity behind it. We would like to present our collection of studies on thermography to all those who are misinformed and continue to misinform the public.  Please see our study index and see for yourself if there is science behind breast thermography.

http://www.thermographyclinic.com/study-index

Here is an example of one of the above mentioned studies and its conclusion, take a moment to read this:

Department of Radiotherapy,

London Cancer Center, London, Ontario; and Ville Marie Breast and Oncology Center, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

CONCLUSION:

Our initial experience would suggest that, when done concomitantly with clinical exam and mammography, high-resolution digital infrared imaging can provide additional safe, practical, and objective information.  Our initial reappraisal would also suggest that infrared imaging, based more on process than structural changes and requiring neither contact, compression, radiation or venous access, can provide pertinent and practical complementary information to both clinical exam and mammography, our current primary basic detection modalities.”

The fact that breast cancer rates in South American countries such as Brazil are nearly half that of the US and Canada is a clear reminder that the everyday choices we make about our diet and level of physical activity are completely relevant.

Women can reduce the risk of breast cancer by making basic lifestyle changes such as eating healthy, moving about more, staying lean, and drinking less alcohol. A moderate daily exercise routine will promote weight loss and hormonal balance, stabilizing your mood and the overall feeling of well being.

Many cosmetic products including lipstick contain lead and xenoestrogens. Synthetic hair dyes increase the risk for certain types of cancers. One-fifth of cases of non- Hodgkin's lymphoma among women are linked to hair-dye use.

Proper risk assessment with the use of breast thermography can help provide you with the early warnings you need to make the necessary changes to become proactive. It is up to all of us to accept responsibility for our own health and start by practicing preventive healthcare. Simple and effective means of protecting our health are actually much easier and more effective than dealing with the full blown disease.

Is Bottled Water Making You Fat?

Posted by on in Breast Health

Do chemicals lurking in bottled water and canned food increase your abdominal fat?

Toxins found in plastics are linked to both general obesity, and more specifically, abdominal obesity. These hormone disruptors have been primarily found in plastic, including plastic food and beverage packaging. Toxins like Bisphenol A or BPA for short, PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), and phthalates are increasingly being referred to as “obesogens.”

Since BPA is a known xeno-estrogen, it’s been linked to all sorts of various health issues ranging from cancer to metabolic disorders, diabetes, and even birth defects or miscarriages. It has been long established that xeno-estrogens can trigger your body to hold onto abdominal fat (aka – stubborn belly fat).

The major offenders to look for are polycarbonate bottles (some plastics with the #7 symbol on the bottom are polycarbonate, but not all) and also canned foods, since the lining of most canned foods contains BPA, which can leach into food.

What Can You Do To Avoid BPA?

1.     Avoid canned foods as much as possible and choose frozen or fresh foods instead.  A better alternative to canned foods is products in glass containers.

2.     If you do resort to using canned foods instead of fresh foods, try to find labels that say that the cans are free of BPA.

3.     When using plastic wrap or plastic containers for food storage, please make sure these products are labeled as BPA-free.

4.     Do not microwave your food in plastic containers as it can increase the leaching of chemicals including BPA. Further, do not use microwaves.

5.     If you drink bottled water, or water from reusable plastic bottles, make sure that the label says BPA-free. Plastic that shows #7 on the bottom may contain BPA, but not always.  If a bottle shows “PC” on the bottom, it is made from polycarbonate, and will contain BPA.  Even some aluminum bottles may contain a lining that has BPA, please avoid these.

Never use plastic cups for hot liquids such as hot tea or coffee.

Once you have eliminated the aggravating cause, now you can improve your health and speed up your metabolism with liver support and detoxification. For more information on liver support and detoxification please see the following blog entry.

In the past 40 years, there has never been a more controversial test than mammography and for many good reasons. Clear communication of harms and benefits associated with mammography is essential to modern health system that allows women to make an informed decision.

Women deserve a full, open and honest discussion of mammography: its benefits and potential risks.  Some will decide to start screening at age forty, others will wait until age fifty. Yet after having been fully informed, some will decline to be screened entirely.  All these decisions need to be respected.

We highly recommend this intelligent and well researched book on this subject by Dr. Handel Reynolds, MD called, quite appropriately, 'The Big Squeeze.'

In his blog Dr. Reynolds covers the subject of Informed Decision Making on Mammograms based on scientific trials and studies, please take a moment to read it.

It's All About Prevention

Posted by on in Breast Health

Over the years we came to realize that major causes of mortality in our society are for the most part preventable. We have done a good job getting people to quit smoking; we try to prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, communicable and other diseases but not cancer. Why not?

It’s all about prevention. The first step toward controlling health care costs is to avoid getting sick. Here is what it takes…

Radiation Exposure and Cancer Risk

Posted by on in Breast Health

Reduce unnecessary exposure to X-ray radiation.

This is not going to come to anyone as a big surprise. However, The Journal of Clinical Oncology, July 2006 reported that women who are genetically predisposed to breast cancer with BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes, having at least one chest X-ray were 54% more likely to develop breast cancer than those who had never had one. Yet it is precisely the population of women who are regularly screened with X-Ray mammography and who are encouraged to do so on regular basis. It is not hard to see that a certain segment of the female population becomes more susceptible to cancer by early exposure to regular X-ray screening. Additionally, X-ray radiation is cumulative. The more frequent the exposure, the exponentially higher the risk. Well, this approach just does not make any sense.

The good news is that breast thermography can be used to screen out this high-risk group with no exposure to radiation. Breast thermography measures the surface temperature of the breast providing a physiological assessment. This method can provide women of all ages with a risk assessment of their breast health and can identify areas of concern early in its development. Regular breast thermography examinations can establish a baseline that can be a reference point for monitoring breast health over a long period of time. Any deviation from normal or baseline points to increased risk and can be dealt with to resolve the issue at hand before any serious problems develop.

Breast thermography is not a competitor to, or a replacement for X-ray mammography, rather is an adjunct tool that can identify areas of abnormal thermal symmetry that are often associated with underlying pathology. When functional abnormalities are detected early, there is an opportunity for early intervention. Yet there is no increase in risk to the patient when thermography is added to regular breast screening.

Liver, Estrogen and Breast Cancer

Posted by on in Breast Health

The most important advice for preventing breast cancer is to maintain and enhance your liver's ability to metabolize estrogens from different sources.

Since most breast tumors are estrogen receptor positive, it implies that they are partially fed by estrogen. Some estrogens are cancer protective, while some are cancer permissive – they are not all created equal.

Keep your E-2/16 ratio in check. A simple urine test (Estronex) can provide you with this information. The lower the amount of (bad) estrogen, the slower the potential growth.

What can you do to correct your ratio and improve your estrogen metabolism? Here is the plan:

Therapeutic use of I3C or DIM has been clinically shown to be very beneficial to keep your E2/16 ratio in a healthy zone.

Proper nutrition requires a specific diet that includes cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts along with foods that are high in Omega 3 oils such as fish and flaxseed. Foods containing high concentration of fiber are essential in promoting healthy digestive system and prevent estrogen reabsorption from the gut.

Maintaining a healthy intestinal state would require avoiding the use of anti-biotics and using probiotic supplements or fermented foods like kefir, yogurt, etc. Supplementation with probiotics Calcium D Glucorate has been proven very beneficial.

Correcting Insulin Resistance with low carbohydrate diet, exercise, weight control and muscle building will help in stabilizing your insulin levels.

Mineral supplements that are generally useful for this program will include magnesium and selenium.

Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, currently defined on the basis of expression of the estrogen receptor (ER) and of the progesterone receptor (PgR), constitutes about 60% of breast cancers arising in premenopausal women and 80% of those diagnosed after menopause.

Over many years of working with Canada’s leading authority on bio-identical hormones Dr. Pettle (www.drpettle.com) I have observed that proper assessment of hormone levels by utilizing blood, saliva and urine testing can identify imbalances that contribute to breast abnormalities and increase breast cancer incidence. It is not surprising to see that in the majority of cases estrogen dominance and progesterone deficiency leads to elevated risk for breast cancer. Usually a two-prong approach has been very effective in combating this imbalance. The use of bio-identical progesterone in the second half of the female cycle has been proven to be very effective. In addition, natural estrogen modulators made from cruciferous vegetables such as DIM or I3C along with Calcium D-Glucorate have been lifesaving for many women. Proper thyroid, adrenal and liver support along with appropriate dietary measures can stabilize and even reverse the condition of estrogen dominance.

A properly working endocrine system along with hormonal balance will significantly reduce your risk of breast cancer. This is a simple and effective way of protecting your health and disease prevention. Please take a moment and read additional articles on this website about cancer prevention. Become proactive, your health is your responsibility!

Most women aged 35 and over will have experienced some of the symptoms of Perimenopause. It is the 5 to10-year time span leading up to the final cessation of their menstruation - menopause. As the ovaries age the production of estrogen and progesterone becomes erratic, leading many women to experience certain symptoms during this span. The following symptoms are very common to women going through a perimenopausal experience:

Menstrual Changes, Hot Flashes, Disturbed Sleep, Reduced Libido, Painful Intercourse, Poor Concentration/Memory, Anxiety, Painful Breasts, Dry Skin and/or Vagina.

The goal in "treating" perimenopause is to alleviate the symptoms and reduce the risk of long-term medical conditions such as heart disease, breast cancer, and osteoporosis. Many treatment options are available today. I find it astounding that approximately 85% of women go on a synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy in order to alleviate symptoms of hot flashes. Yes, the same HRT, which in 2002 WHO study found that, synthetic HRT actually increased women’s risk for heart disease and breast cancer!

Of course there are many much safer alternatives, such as bio-identical hormonal therapy, homeopathic medications, dietary and nutritional means, and a myriad of other modalities such as acupuncture, ayurveda, herbal medicine, etc.

The most common complaint of hot flashes interferes with sleep patterns and can be debilitating. Many women describe being drenched in perspiration and needing to change bedclothes several times during the night. Unable to fall back to sleep and spending the night tossing and turning leaves them physically and emotionally drained.

Of course, not all of these symptoms could be as a result of a hormone imbalance; poor adrenal functions, thyroid problems or even an intestinal microbial imbalance may be involved in some cases. A thorough assessment is essential in addressing the underlying causes, rather than just treating the symptoms. However, there are many things you can do to help yourself experience a gentler and smoother transition through this life-changing process. Please do not settle to survive, THRIVE.

Harmful Antiperspirants, Deodorants and your Breast Health.

Something that you’re probably using on daily basis yet the vast majority of over-the-counter deodorants and antiperspirants are made with harmful ingredients that compromise your body's ability to function.

Several most common ingredients used in deodorants and antiperspirants:

Aluminum chloride - a well-known irritant that helps reduce perspiration, but also removes color from clothing and degrades fabric. Aluminum has an affinity for the brain and human pineal gland (our spiritual center) and large concentrations of toxic aluminum develop in these body parts. Aluminum has been implicated as the number one cause of Alzheimer disease.

Propylene glycol - According to the safety data sheets of industrial chemical manufacturers, chemicals such as Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol will cause serious health conditions, including liver and heart damage along with damage to the central nervous system if sufficient is absorbed by the body.

Triclosan- is a synthetic antibacterial agent, has been linked to heart disease and heart failure. Tricolsan impairs muscle function and skeletal muscle contractility.

Aluminum zirconium tetrachlorhydrex- GLY - plugs the pores and stains fabric when mixed with sweat (it's what leaves that yellow tinge on your white shirts). The immediate health risk is that aluminum zirconium blocks toxins from escaping through the armpits, causing them to accumulate in the lymph nodes near the breast.

Parabens - many commercial deodorants also contain parabens and estrogen mimicking chemicals that may also impact breast health. A study published in 2004 (Darbre, in the Journal of Applied Toxicology) detected parabens in breast tumors. Recent research has detected the presence of paraben esters in 99 percent of breast cancer tissues sampled.

The Effects:

If you had to choose antiperspirant over deodorant, the wise choice would be deodorant, as deodorant doesn't affect your bodily function whereas antiperspirant does.

The underarm lymph nodes are impaired from the use of antiperspirants and many toxic deodorants. Lymph nodes are ducts that help in elimination of toxins. When there is a backup of toxins in the lymphatic system area of the chest, the nearby armpits suffer. The lymph nodes at the armpits become swollen and inflamed.

Have you ever felt a burning, tender soreness in your underarms? Ever developed a large and painful knot or lump (that may last for days) in your underarms? This could be the result of the chemicals in commercial brand underarm deodorants and antiperspirants.

Better Alternatives

If you are experiencing swelling, redness, soreness, an inflammation under the arms (armpits), immediately stop using your deodorant or antiperspirant.

You will need to allow the lymphatic system to cleanse these toxins for a while. To help speed up this process brisk walking for at least 20 minutes or rebounding will be very helpful. There are a number of ways to support lymphatic function that should be part of every woman’s health habits, such as:

Massage that focuses on the upper shoulders, arms, and neck is useful as well. There are massage techniques that focus on lymph drainage.

Dry brushing vigorously on the arms, torso, and legs is also recommended for moving lymph. The brush stroke directions should go from neck and calves to torso.

Botanicals for cleansing lymphatic system include:

·      Echinacea root

·      Goldenseal root

·      Lobelia

·      Mulein Leaf

·      Chaparral

·      Burdock Root

Homeopathic remedies include:

·      Phytolacca Decanta

·      Scrophularia Nodosa

·      Sarsaparilla

·      Hepar Sulph

·      Silica

Crystal stick deodorants require special mention as well since some contain aluminum. Please make sure "aluminum" or ‘Alum” is not an ingredient in any crystal deodorant you purchase.  Always remember to check the ingredients of any product you buy.

Ten years ago Nigar came to our office to get her thermography done. Dr. Pettle - ObGyn, felt a lump in her left breast but Nigar refused to get a mammogram. However, she consented to get thermography done because it involved no contact, radiation or compression. She was told that her thermography result indicated that she was at very high risk, (heat in the area of clinical finding). Nigar subsequently had a biopsy with a positive diagnosis of breast cancer. Please watch her personal story to understand how thermography saved her life.

If you think this is important, please share this with others and sign our petition to help protect your access to thermography.

Breast health made easy

Posted by on in Breast Health

WE ARE SWIMMING IN AN OCEAN OF INFORMATION OUT THERE AND YET, THERE IS SO MUCH CONFLICTING ADVICE, IT IS NO WONDER THAT MANY ARE CONFUSED AND NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. BUT BEFORE YOU RAISE YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR AND GIVE UP, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING AND SEE WHAT MAKES SENSE AND RESONATES WITH YOU.

ON THE MOST BASIC LEVEL, YOU HAVE TO ESTABLISH A PATTERN OF HEALTH THAT IS DRUG FREE AND DISEASE FREE WITH THE MOST ELEMENTAL FUNCTIONS UNDER CONTROL: THIS INCLUDES THE FUNDAMENTALS OF EATING WELL, SLEEPING WELL AND ELIMINATING WELL. UNLESS YOU HAVE THESE THREE BASIC ELEMENTAL FUNCTIONS UNDER CONTROL, NOTHING ELSE IS GOING TO WORK. HOWEVER, IF YOU DO, PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING…

LET’S START AND MAINTAIN AN EXERCISE PROGRAM THAT ADDRESSES THREE KEY COMPONENTS OF PHYSICAL HEALTH: SUCH AS DURATION (AEROBICS), STRENGTH (WEIGHT RESISTANCE), AND FLEXIBILITY (STRETCHING). A MODERATE DAILY EXERCISE ROUTINE WILL PROMOTE WEIGHT LOSS AND HORMONAL BALANCE, STABILIZING YOUR MOOD AND THE OVERALL FEELING OF WELL-BEING.

NEXT, INCREASE YOUR CONSUMPTION OF VEGETABLES ESPECIALLY CRUCIFEROUS FAMILY - CABBAGE, BROCCOLI, BRUSSELS SPROUTS, KALE, CAULIFLOWER, CRESS AND BOK CHOY. THE MAIN INGREDIENT IN THESE VEGETABLES IS INDOLE CARBINOL, A COMPOUND THAT PROMOTES HEALTHY ESTROGEN METABOLISM.

THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT. CONSIDER CHANGING TO A HIGH FIBER DIET THAT INCLUDES FOODS PRIMARILY FROM PLANT AND GRAIN BASED VARIETIES. FIBER HELPS WITH ELIMINATING ESTROGENS AND LIPIDS OUT OF OUR BOWELS AND HELPS PROMOTE A HEALTHY INTESTINAL FUNCTION.

MAINTAIN ADEQUATE LEVELS OF ALL B-COMPLEX VITAMINS THROUGH A DIET RICH IN GREEN PEAS, LENTILS, NUTS, ASPARAGUS, SPINACH AND OTHER DARK GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES INCLUDING UNREFINED GRAINS AND WHEAT GERM.

ENHANCE YOUR IMMUNITY, YOUR MOOD AND OVERALL RESILIENCE, GET YOUR VITAMIN D LEVELS IN THE OPTIMAL RANGE – 40-90 NG/ML. FOODS LIKE FATTY FISH AND FISH OILS CONTAIN HIGH LEVELS OF THIS VITAMIN.  VITAMIN D IS NATURALLY MADE BY YOUR BODY WHEN YOU EXPOSE YOUR SKIN TO THE SUN, AND THUS, IS CALLED THE SUNSHINE VITAMIN. FOR SOME OF US WHO DO NOT GET ENOUGH SUN EXPOSURE OR EAT ENOUGH FISH, TAKING A SUPPLEMENT OF UP TO 5000IU PER DAY MAY BE VERY BENEFICIAL.

CONSUMING FOODS SUCH AS GARLIC, ONIONS, LETTUCE AND CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES WILL PROMOTE BONDING OF BILE TO GLUCURONIC ACID, WHICH AIDS OUR BODY IN REMOVING UNWANTED ESTROGENS. CALCIUM D-GLUCARIC ACID IS ANOTHER SUPPLEMENT THAT IMPROVES ESTROGEN METABOLISM. IT SHOULD BE TAKEN IN DOSES OF 500MG TWICE DAILY.

ADDITIONAL HELPFUL SUPPLEMENTS AND FOODS INCLUDE: FLAXSEED THAT HELPS EXCRETE EXCESS ESTROGEN SAFELY OUT OF THE BODY. FISH OIL - OMEGA 3 ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS ADDS MORE PROTECTION. VITAMIN E IS A FAT-SOLUBLE ANTIOXIDANT AND IS FOUND TO BE CRITICALLY LOW IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS. SUPPLEMENTATION OF 400 TO 800 UNITS WITH SELENIUM SHOULD BE TAKEN DAILY.

IT IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO STAY PROACTIVE AND INFORMED IN YOUR OWN HEALTH CARE. KNOWING WHAT TO DO IS THE FIRST STEP, HOWEVER NOTHING REPLACES DOING - WHEN YOU START IMPLEMENTING KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTION.
